Karis and Sasha were married on 1 October 2016 at Durali Villa in Vernon, Canada. Karis chose a delicate tulle and beaded gown from the Rosa Clara Soft collection.
Karis and Sasha met through mutual friends at the University of Alberta. Sasha proposed at Mount Cook in New Zealand right before they reached the top of the mountain.
Peter Trends: What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Karis: Taking photographs with my bridal party because a case of wine was left in the car that we drove to the location and the photographers randomly had a football. So we drank bottles of wine and threw around the football in the fields of British Columbia. And our first dance was great – we danced to ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.’
Peter Trends: How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?
Karis: It was hard because there are so many beautiful choices and my mother/mother-in-law didn’t share my taste. But Jessica at Peter Trends was amazing and so helpful. She was not pushy at all and made me feel the most comfortable out of all the sales people I met.
Peter Trends: What did you love about your wedding gown?
Karis: It’s uniqueness. It wasn’t the typical strapless lace mermaid dress. It had a 1920’s style feel so it makes me think it will be timeless and I will still love it in 50+ years from now!
Peter Trends: Any words of wisdom for future brides?
Karis: Go with the style you most like, but try to consider others feedback so you make the right choice without disappointing others too much.
Peter Trends: Is there anything special you would like to share with us about your wedding day?
Karis: It was so perfect! I wouldn’t change a thing! I definitely have to give a lot of credit to my wedding planner who gave great ideas to me and made sure the day went smoothly.
