Lucinda and David were married on 1 October 2016 at the Trinity Grammar School Chapel, Summer Hill with reception afterwards at the Royal Sydney Golf Club. Lucinda was a vibrant and bubbly bride to have in store at our boutique and she is a beautiful girl both inside and out. We caught up with Lucinda to ask her about her special day!
Peter Trends: How did you meet your husband?
Lucinda: David and I met through a mutual friend whom he lived with at the same time. I was kind of dating this guy but clearly wasn’t working out. Dave and I remained friends, which turned into a relationship and 5 years later we married.
Peter Trends: How did your husband propose to you?
Lucinda: It was our 4 year anniversary, we were madly saving for a house together and living with his parents. Dave took me to my favourite Thai restaurant. After, we had dessert at a park by the river near where we lived. We used to go there all the time in the early days. He then suggested we get married. I was a little confused and agreed, then he turned to me and asked me to marry him. He used a ring he had given me for a birthday. We couldn’t wait to get home to tell his parents. They had some friends over and Dave was so shy he made me wait 1 hour before we could tell them haha. My engagement ring was his Grandmother’s ring. Cheeky had it planned all along!!
Peter Trends: What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Lucinda: I just loved every minute! We had our photos taken at Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club. I grew up there and it has been a big part of our lives together. Walking on the sand and jetty with husband in hand was magical. I also enjoyed when all the formalities were over, we sat down outside and had a moment together and it was pure bliss. I couldn’t believe it was all really happening!
Peter Trends: How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?
Lucinda: Originally I was going to have my gown made as I didn’t think I’d be able to find one in my size! My best friend and maid of honour suggested I do a google search and see what comes up. Peter Trends looked so lovely I booked an appointment and off we went hoping maybe I could just see some dresses to get ideas. Jessica was magnificent and made me feel fantastic in every dress!! Poor thing I made her help me into like 6 different dresses. We ended up choosing the first one I tried on.
Peter Trends: What did you love about your wedding gown?
Lucinda: The material was amazing and I loved that my design was simple yet elegant. It was perfect for my shape and for what I wanted. I tried on different styles, but in the end strapless was always going to be a winner. And I didn’t have too much tulle but just the perfect amount of train. Jessica helped me by adding the ribbon belt, and we picked a simple veil to match.
Peter Trends: Any words of wisdom for future brides?
Lucinda: Don’t stress the small stuff. Enjoy every minute, on the day everyone has so much fun and no one cares about the lolly jars, candles or what colour bow is on the serviette. Take some time out with your new husband to breathe and be happy and excited. It just goes too quick!!
Peter Trends: Is there anything special you would like to share with us about your wedding day?
Lucinda: We made sure our day reflected and was all about David and I, and our relationship. Our song wasn’t a traditional love song, we had lots of unique and different things that made it all about us. I also gave people a time limit on speeches, as lovely as it is to talk about us for 20 minutes – it’s boring for everyone else. David is a very shy person and takes awhile to come out of his shell. His speech was so beautiful it made me cry! He was so nervous about dancing and speaking in front of everyone. He did it all for me.
