Peita and Simon were married on 21 October 2016 at Fig Tree Restaurant in Byron Bay, NSW. Peita wore the ‘Corfu‘ gown from internation bridal house, Novia D’Art.
Peter Trends: How did you meet your husband?
Peita: Simon and my older brother are best friends! We very first met when I was only 15. My brother had invited some uni friends over the go surfing. Simon actually wiped me out on a wave that day! Needless to say, it was a memorable first meeting! The next time we saw each other was 9 years later at my brother’s wedding. We’ve been together ever since!
Peter Trends: How did your husband propose?
Peita: Simon tried to take me for an early morning walk on the beach to watch the sunrise but I was stubborn and wouldn’t go because it was too cold! So he surprised me in bed that morning instead with his late Grandmother’s engagement ring that she had given him to give me. It was very emotional and I felt so special. She passed away one month later.
Peter Trends: What was your favourite part of the wedding?
Peita: It’s so overwhelming seeing all the people that you love come together in one place. The speeches were one of my favourite parts of the day….so many tears of laughter and happiness! We took a moment after dinner to reflect on how incredibly lucky we are to have such loving and supportive friends and family.
Peter Trends: How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?
Peita: I chose a beautiful Novia D’Art lace gown. I didn’t really know what I wanted until I saw it. I had considered having a dress made until my sister-in-law took me dress shopping while I was in Sydney. It was the third dress I tried on and straight away I knew it was the right dress for me. I never would have guessed it would be so easy! Jess was so lovely, making it such a relaxing and fun experience.
Peter Trends: What did you love about your wedding gown?
Peita: I loved that it was classic and romantic with a bit of an edge. The lace was gorgeous. I felt so comfortable on the day.
Peter Trends: Any words of wisdom for future brides?
Peita: The whole wedding planning process is actually really fun and enjoyable. Make sure you choose a dress that you feel comfortable in no matter what others expectations may be. Everything works out in the end! Don’t stress the small stuff!
