Rosa Clara Bride
Lucy and Phil were married on 14th October 2017 at an intimate event in the Southern Highlands of NSW. Their ceremony took place in an old stone church, St Francis Xavier in Berrima and was followed by a reception at Centennial Vineyards Restaurant, Bowral. Lucy chose a stunning all lace gown from the Rosa Clara collection and was looked after by our own head office team in Sydney. Her gown has just a hint of champagne and is completed with a stunning beaded belt. Here she shares some of her thoughts about her wedding day!
Peter Trends Bridal: How did you meet your husband?
Lucy: A mutual friend of ours arranged a lunch out in Manly in 2012. Phil was there, I loved the way he introduced himself to me, he was so polite and had a lovely smile. Phil asked me a lot of questions about me that I couldn’t eat my dinner! I then saw him around on many occasions in the next few months. I flew back to England, my hometown, to catch up with my family and friends for a month. Upon returning to Sydney I promised myself that I would move back home in the year 2013 for good, after being in Sydney for 2 years. During that time Phil contacted me asking if I would like to catch up, just the two of us. We began hanging out on a regular basis and became good friends. He worked in the IT field and he came over to my place to fix my laptop one evening. We grew closer and fell in love! Here I am 6 yeas later married to the man of my dreams and loving Sydney!
Peter Trends Bridal: How did your husband propose to you?
Lucy: After a morning shift at work, Phil randomly asked me if I would like to go for a picnic at Bradley’s Head lookout point. It was a fine summer evening, I thought why not?! It was a beautiful place to watch the sunset over the city view. We were surrounded by many bush turkeys and cockatoo birds and they were trying to steal our food! Phil was so nervous that he kept guard of our food and watched the birds closely without enjoying the view! I said “just let’s relax and enjoy our evening.” I then went to reach for the strawberries and noted a little white box in the basket. I had no idea as to whether I was supposed to find the box so the funny thing is I didn’t say anything! I then wondered whether he was planning on proposing to me that evening! He eventually got down on his knee and popped the question. I was so surprised that I couldn’t say yes right away until a minute or two later I said yes, yes of course!!
Peter Trends Bridal: How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?
Lucy: It was stressful! I couldn’t find the dress I liked! I visited Peter Trends shop with my sister and her friend from the UK, the fifth shop. I picked several dresses from the rack feeling unsure about them. The first one I put on I thought yes! This is the one! It was what I wanted! However, it was slightly over my budget and I asked whether it would be possible to buy it off the rack with a discount, as normally the dress would need to be ordered from elsewhere. The staff at the shop were very kind to allow me to do this, I was very grateful for their decision! I got to purchase my dream dress and I walked out of the shop feeling very happy.
Peter Trends Bridal: What did you love about your bridal gown?
Lucy: Everything! I loved the lace, the style of my dress, the belt I added on for a sparkle, the champagne colour of the dress and the design of the back of the dress which was unique.
Peter Trends Bridal: What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Lucy: Getting married to the love of my life looking beautiful in my gorgeous dress surrounded by our families and friends. It was also lovely to have my family and friends from the UK to be part of our special day. We had so much fun and the day went by so quickly! My husband and I thought it was very nice to get away from the city and get married in the countryside in an old beautiful Catholic Church followed by the reception at the vineyards nearby. We booked a holiday house for close family and friends to stay with us and it was great to get to spend quality time with them pre-wedding.
Peter Trends: Is there anything special you would like to share with us about your wedding day?
Lucy: Our day was perfect despite the cold and showers we had on the day! We still got to enjoy our day and would not have it any other way. We would love to do it all over again!!
Peter Trends Bridal: Any words of wisdom for future brides?
Lucy: All marriages will have ups and downs, always stick with each other. If an argument with your husband occurs always make up and kiss each other good night before heading to bed and start a new day off fresh and happy.
